The Retouching Room: correct the gown, the room or the hour on a portrait that is nearly right. One instruction at a time, originals preserved.

Retouch only work you created here or media you hold the rights and consent for.

The price is stated before you confirm. A retouch produces a new version; the original remains in your keeping, untouched.

The retouching room

Every sitting produces a frame that is nearly right: her bearing is perfect, the light is kind, and the gown belongs to a different collection. The retouching room exists for that frame. State the correction in plain language — a gown exchanged, a room replaced, an evening deepened — and the portrait is re-rendered with the correction made and everything else left exactly as it was. The price is stated before you confirm, and the original is never touched.

The retoucher’s method

1

Mark the frame worth keeping

Strong bearing and good light beneath a wrong detail. A frame weak in its bones is cheaper to sit again than to save.

2

Give one instruction at a time

A single correction per commission keeps the remainder of the portrait standing, and the price predictable.

3

Compare, then keep the finer

Original and retouched rest side by side in your account. Hang the better one; the other has cost you nothing further.

Corrections most often requested

Wardrobe

Another gown entirely

One sitting dressed for three collections in turn — the quietest way to widen a catalogue without widening the week.

Setting

A different room

The salon becomes a library, the library a terrace, while she and the light remain precisely where they were.

Light

The hour, adjusted

Morning becomes candlelight; a flat afternoon becomes an evening — so a frame may join the set it was always meant for.

Instructions that retouch cleanly

Wardrobe

“Change the champagne gown to a deep burgundy velvet gown; keep her pose, her hair and the candlelight exactly as they are.”

The correction is named, and everything else is placed under protection. A “keep exactly” clause is the cheapest insurance in the room.

Setting

“Move the scene to a wood-panelled library lit by a single tall window; keep the subject and her pose unchanged.”

One room exchanged for another. To ask for a new room, a new gown and a new pose in a single commission is to order a new sitting, not a retouch.

Retouch, or sit again?

How is retouching priced?

Per commission, stated before you confirm. Correcting a chosen frame is ordinarily more economical than sitting and selecting a series again.

Does a retouch alter my original?

Never. The retouched portrait is a new piece; the original remains in your account precisely as it was.

How much may one instruction change?

One correction at a time. Several at once loosen the very parts you asked to keep.

May I retouch photographs I upload?

Yes — your own photographs are governed by the same consent rules as every room in the club.

What if the retouch misses?

Narrow the instruction, and name what must remain identical. A vague brief is the usual author of a wandering retouch.
